About
Mike

Biography
My years of working on ranches in Wyoming, Colorado
and Nevada exposed me to the rugged beauty of the West. I have found a way to express my experiences and feelings for
the West by designing furniture. I
also incorporate the geometric patterns of nature I discovered as a
graduate gemologist into my work. I
strive for my designs to be unique, and recognized as my personal style.
There’s always one tree in the forest that is
different, unique and catches the eye.
My inspiration comes from nature, and the beauty of the materials I
choose for my creations. I
love to show the natural colors of various woods, and admire the delicate
variations of texture as I work with each piece of material.
No stains or dyes are used. I
strive for perfection in my furniture, but appreciate the irregularities,
natural characteristics and unusual grain patterns in woods that serve to
make my pieces unique.
In addition to woodworking, I also enjoy working with
clay and writing poetry. I
live on the eastern slope of the Sierras, outside of Gardnerville, Nevada
with my wife, Diane
My function is to design and display the natural beauty of the wood
grains and colors in a form deserving of the original creator.
